REQUIREMENTS

Zicam Integrated Security approached Mint Technology early in 2021 as they felt that they has outgrown their incumbent IT support supplier. As well as day to day niggles at the office, Zicam also lacked the necessary certification to allow them to become a preferred supplier to some potential large clients. Mint were briefed to assist Zicam in becoming a preferred supplier to these potential clients. This would include the review and remediation of their internal IT systems and processes, followed by some external validation and certification to demonstrate their house is in order.

THE SOLUTION

After a free consultation Mint put forward a series of wide ranging proposals that would achieve Zicam’s goals. These included:

  • Re-design of the internal network to segregate Core IT Services from CCTV and internal door access systems. We also provided a guest Wifi.
  • Installation of a Cisco Meraki Security Appliance to secure
  • Virtualisation of server infrastructure to allow for easier offsite backup and recovery.
  • Remediation and replacement of Zicam’s PCs so they are all complaint.
  • Isolation of legacy machines used for support of old CCTV systems from the core IT network.
  • Migration to Microsoft 365 with external mail filtering.
  • Ongoing monitoring and remote management of Zicam’s IT Infrastructure.
  • Installation of a new cloud phone system that allowed for better call routing.
  • Installation of a Mesh Wi-Fi System that allowed for secure Wi-fi.
  • Production of a number of IT Policy Documents (based on ISO27001 standards) and training given on the content.

Once this work had been carried out, Mint assisted Zicam in becoming Cyber Essentials certified which demonstrates a documented nationally recognised level of compliance in IT Security. In addition to this Mint engaged with a third party security assessor to perform some penetration testing. We achieved a very good score of 92% and the assessor commenting “Phenomenal performance on the Meraki, and great job to you & your team for the configuration”.

Finally, Mint assisted Zicam in responding to various IT Security Audits from potential clients. This has allowed them to become preferred suppliers that have provided a lot of new work. This has seen a sharp rise in work and in turn revenue and profits.
